There is nothing quite as special as packing up the campervan, discovering new and exciting places, then having a beautiful space to park up and stay.
Time to feel some grass under those tyres? Wind your van through narrow lanes, banks overgrown with cow parsley and long grass, to this truly secluded campervan site in the Kentish countryside.
Our Campervan pitches offer the same back to basics feel as our tent pitches including the real fire pit. As we are totally off grid you won’t find any hard standings or electrical hook ups here, but you will find the most idyllic and relaxed place to stay. With spacious pitches, your own campfire and clean (but quirky!) facilities, we can guarantee you will love it here. In fact, most of our campervan friends return every year to enjoy our peaceful setting, take in the wildflower views, and often order their wood fired pizzas ahead of arrival!
Campervans can be pitched with Glampers and Campers. Just let us know if you’re planning a group stay and we will make sure you are all together.
“We had a lovely time staying here. Totally concur with other reviewers’ experience in terms of space, loos and showers, cleanliness, and owners’ clear pride and care in what they’re doing. PIzzas were good and the coffee excellent. Had a lovely chat with Philip, one of the owners. So easy to get there and suddenly you feel in the middle of nowhere. There’s a map on the wall of reception showing a local walk which is genuinely amazing: we had a drink in the freshly-opened Bowl at Hastingleigh. Would thoroughly recommend this place and we will be back. Oh, the sunset was out of this world.”

Happiness found across every camping
We'd love to hear from you!
A Kent Campsite Built Around Space and Fire
Sunnyfield is a family-run campsite in Kent, set in the Kent Downs - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just south of Canterbury. Open since 2014, the site is built around one simple idea: real space, a private fire pit at every pitch, and a completely car-free meadow. Across the whole 8-acre site there are just 32 pitches, each one cut individually into the long grass rather than lined up in an open field. If you've been looking for a campsite in Kent that doesn't feel like a caravan park, or a glamping site that still feels like actual camping, this is what Sunnyfield was built for.
Camping, Glamping and Campervans - All in One Meadow
There are three ways to stay, all sharing the same meadow. Camping guests bring their own tent and pitch on a spacious plot, ideal for families or groups wanting a traditional, back-to- basics camping holiday in Kent. Glamping guests stay in a furnished 5-metre bell tent, complete with a king-size bed, fresh linen, and everything needed to cook outdoors over the fire - a popular choice for couples, small groups, and first-time campers who'd rather not pack their own gear. Campervan guests get a grass pitch instead of a hard standing, with no electric hook-up required, which keeps the whole site genuinely off-grid. Whichever way you choose, evenings are spent around a fire that's actually yours, not shared with the pitch next door - and because Sunnyfield sits well away from any towns, the sky above the meadow is dark enough for proper stargazing.
Facilities and What's Included
Facilities are shared across the site and kept simple: hot showers, compost toilets, standpipe taps for fresh water, and wood-fired pizza most weekends, alongside freshly ground coffee most mornings. There's no Wi-Fi and no electric hook-ups anywhere - Sunnyfield is off-grid by design, not by accident, and it's usually the first thing guests mention when they talk about what made the stay feel different. Camping essentials aside, the meadow itself does most of the work: long grass, wildflowers, and enough distance between pitches that you rarely hear the group two plots over.
A Small, Quiet Campsite by Design
Kent has no shortage of large touring parks with hundreds of pitches, swimming pools and amplified entertainment - Sunnyfield deliberately isn't one of those. Capping the site at 32 pitches means it never feels crowded, even across a busy bank holiday weekend, and noise is kept low throughout, making this one of the more genuinely peaceful campsites in Kent rather than a holiday park with tents. For anyone who's tried a bigger site and found it too much - too many neighbours, too much noise after dark - this is built to be the opposite.
Location: Canterbury, the Coast and the Eurotunnel
unnyfield sits closer to more than it first appears. Canterbury and its cathedral are around 20 minutes away, Folkestone's beaches and the White Cliffs of Dover are roughly 25 minutes, and the Eurotunnel terminal is about 15 minutes down the road - useful whether you're staying a week or breaking a journey to France. The North Downs Way runs close by for walkers and cyclists, and the surrounding lanes are dotted with working vineyards, farm shops and village pubs worth the short drive. It's this mix - genuine countryside seclusion with Canterbury and the coast both within easy reach - that makes Sunnyfield work equally well as a full week's Kent staycation or a quick weekend escape from London.
Best Time to Camp at Sunnyfield
Like most campsites in the Kent Downs, Sunnyfield runs through the spring and summer months, when the meadow is at its best - wildflowers out, long evenings by the fire, and pizza nights running most weekends. Early season bookings tend to mean quieter fields and cooler nights better suited to proper stargazing, while peak summer weekends are the busiest for families making the most of the school holidays. Whatever the season, the site's off-grid, low- key setup stays exactly the same.
Families, Dogs and Groups Welcome
Sunnyfield is a genuinely family and dog-friendly campsite. Because the meadow is car- free, children can play safely without worrying about traffic, and well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads throughout the site. Noise is kept to a minimum after 10pm, which most returning guests point to as the exact reason they keep coming back. Groups of three or more families can usually be pitched together if arranged in advance, whether that's a mix of tents, bell tents and campervans sharing the same corner of the field.
Whichever way you choose to stay, Sunnyfield stays true to the same idea - somewhere in the Kent Downs to properly slow down, without a screen or a socket anywhere in sight.
